The adventures of the Salesman's Family of 7 (soon to be!). A little blog about how to be a salesman's family frugally and responsibly...and all the wackiness that comes with it!
Payday Shuffle 7/22
This check we had due:
Rent (the rest of June since we haven't paid it yet)
Electric (the rest of June as well)
Water/Trash/Sewer (June)
Natural Gas
Groceries
Gasoline
Van Payment
Hubby's check was the only income this week unfortunately, and it was again very small. We did manage to catch up on the rent (YAY!) and the Electric bill, and we got a payment plan set up for July's bill since it was over $400 (ya, I felt comfortable sharing that...it's OUTRAGEOUS!). Van payment is auto deducted from Hubby's check so it's always paid before we see the paycheck (WOOT!). I did also splurge a little bit and got most of the kids' school supplies since there were such great deals. We got all but binders for both kids and spent less than $25.
The rest is as follows:
1. Water/Trash/Sewer - called and postponed until the 5th
2. Natural Gas - nothing done or paid, we really need to get on this one since it hasn't been paid since...March. I'm surprised it's still on.
3. Groceries - went to the Catholic Charities food pantry. Paid $0 for groceries this week.
4. Gasoline - we had half tanks in both vehicles and that's usually what we need. I'm a little worried though since I made a couple extra trips already and we have to go across town for my sonogram on Wednesday, and Thursday is my normal doc appointment. Hopefully, the gas will last until next Friday.

No clue why so much. Only thing I can figure is a combination of factors.
1. The heat/humidity being so friggin' high this summer
2. Hubby turning the thermostat down to 60 or 65 to "cool off the house faster" *sigh*
3. Cooking on the stove/oven when it's so friggin' hot
4. Dryer vent not hooked up properly so the heat and humidity is venting into the house...plus we have that room's window open to help vent some of that outside.
5. Everyone leaving lights/tvs/computers/etc. on all the time.
6. The house having horribly leaky windows.
7. I was leaving the curtains in the living room open because I love the light. Unfortunately, that window faces west.
I'm working on getting those issues resolved for the next bill. Lights off most times, curtains closed during the day, cooking in the microwave, only using the dryer at night. Hopefully this will help.
