From time to time, everyone needs help. Please don't feel like you can't ask, it's more shameful (in my opinion) to let your family do without basic necessities like food, energy, housing, diapers, etc. than to ask for help. Always ask family, friends and religious community first, but make sure you return the favor if ever they need it and repay them when you are able to do so. If that is not an option contact your local social services department for a list of agencies that can help. Here's some links that I have...
Kansas SRS - for food, medical, cash, transportation, mental, utility, etc assistance. Also the place to go for information on other agencies that can help.
Kansas & Western MO Salvation Army - food assistance, I believe they also offer other assistance, but I'm not sure all of them.
As I broaden my readership and look for more links, I will update this page. Please feel free to send me an email (see home page) to request some links in your area. I will do my best to help!
Finally, I cannot stress this enough, please repay the folks that help you when you are down. Last time I was at the Salvation Army food pantry, they were running low on several of the staple items they typically give out. Also, make sure you are doing your best to stock up on staples of your own so you aren't always needing outside help. Use that extra $5 or $10 of grocery money to buy extra flour, sugar, oats, etc. in case of emergency down the road...you'll be glad you did!
The adventures of the Salesman's Family of 7 (soon to be!). A little blog about how to be a salesman's family frugally and responsibly...and all the wackiness that comes with it!
