Another Small Setback...

Tuesday, September 6, 2011
Just when we think things are going to turn around and get better, we always end up with another small set back. Today's setback was Hubby losing his job. Gotta love that right? Baby is due a month from today (exactly a month) and this is the wonderful news we receive first thing this morning. Fantastic! *rolls eyes*

I will, however, not be brought down by this bit of news. We knew it was a possibility. I just wish that it had waited until I had the baby and recovered so I could find a job that could support us, while he looks for another job and works on getting his GED. On the plus side, I am able to pick up some more hours at work, the boss and I spoke briefly about that yesterday (she offered me more hours). I told her I had to think about it, because at the time, it didn't seem completely necessary, the extra money would be nice, but it would weigh on my physically and mentally. You never know how hard retail is on your body until you are pregnant or have some sort of physical sickness.

So here we are, in major debt to payday loan companies, having to apply for unemployment, hoping that it will be enough to cover our expenses while Hubby's on his job search. And with only 4 weeks (at the most) until I will be completely unable to work for 6-8 weeks.

Deep down, I'm hoping that when Joe's boss comes back to work on Thursday (he's off today and tomorrow for family stuff) that he'll be extremely p.o'ed that they let Joe go behind his back, and offer to bring him back, and fire the dip stick that fired Joe in the first place. Unless of course the boss may have waited until this time off to lower the axe in the first place so he wouldn't have to deal with the guilt. However, I highly doubt that's the case, since we owe him money as well, and we can't exactly pay him back without a job.

It's these setbacks that test us as people with character and strength and test us as a couple and a family. As long as we understand that these are only tests and character building moments, not as the end of the world, everything will be OK. Wish us luck in our test period. I will keep you all updated with the latest news and how we are handling it. What a great way to learn and share new strategies with each other! :)
