DIY - Yogurt!

Sunday, July 17, 2011
Awww yeah! I finally got around to making some yogurt yesterday. Quite interesting and I'm not quite sure if I want to try it just yet. However, I'm pretty happy that it came out semi-ok looking. Here's the recipe that I found on The Simple Dollar.

I had to make some changes though. I only had skim milk and didn't have more than a half a cup of powdered milk. The substitution of milk fat content meant a longer time setting than the 8 hours, and it still came out watery. So, next time I make the yogurt, I'll make sure I have some whole milk and some unflavored gelatin on hand. In the mean time, I'm super happy to have found a use for my Proctor-Silex 33111Y Oval Citrus 1.5qt Slow Cooker . 1.5 qts is so small for a family as large as mine...and still not quite large enough for the full yogurt recipe (I halved the recipe).

I urge you to try this recipe sometime and let me know how it turns out!
